Information for the ITB Virtual Workshop, March 22, 2006 (9:00-16:00 CST). ESnet ad-hoc video system will be used, bridged with VRVS.

3 methods of connecting:

• ESNet H.323 client (see http://www.ecs.es.net to register a new client, or http://www-staff.es.net/~mikep/adhoc/codian.htm for more information on connecting), using meeting ID 88482.
• ESnet phone dial-in is 1-510-883-7860 -- enter the meeting ID (88482) followed by the # sign when it answers. There is a hard limit of 23 total phone connections for all of the ESNet conferences, so hopefully most people will use video and not phone.

Getting Started

• The basic installation, found in the SiteAdmins page.

Configuration

• Most of the configuration issues are handled in the SiteAdmins page or pages linke to this document.

Administrator Validation tasks

• Execute site_verify.pl in $VDT_LOCATION/verify/ locally
• Register new resourse,instructions provided and a link to the web form found at the [[http://osg.ivdgl.org/twiki/bin/view/Operations/RegistrationInstructions#Resource_or_Service_Registration] Resource Registration page]]

• Addition to the grid services will be done semi-automatticaly after the registration information provided has been approved.

• Registration information review and approval will be done by Tim Silvers
• Once approved VORS will be updated by John Rosheck and the ACDC operations dashboard will start the validation tests (Mark Green, Rob Quick). Review these pages to learn more about VORS and the ACDC Operations Dashboard
  • Once validated the new resources will be added to ITB BDII (John Rosheck, U Iowa)

Documentation

• During the virtual workshop, the intent is to add to the "Known Problems" sections in each major documention set.

Documentation rewrites should not be the focus during the workshop, rather listing the known documentation problems so the owners of the document can make ALL of the discovered changes at a later time is preferable.

  • use a service to give latittude and long from IP
  • VDT ideas about an OSG configuration wizard -- will look into.
  • No problem running twice, picks up previous configuration file inputs.
  • Change completion message on install guide. - done
  • Can a default be supplied for Monalisa port?
  • Need to follow-up, encourage validation of srm-drm as it is delivered through VDT, not through the lbl website.
    • Need effort effort; TT in a couple of weeks has volunteered.

  • Monalisa question about "running the ML monitoring service?" to be more clear? done
  • ITB - signs off.
• Need to clarify local storage attribute instructions and resolve ambiguities. (small working group needed)

• Need to clear up worker node client instructions (need targeted group to work this out); also should be linked in with the OverviewGuide.
• Storage element update:
  • se at fnal (Ted) will be provided for tests from the mis vo and (registration and dashboard operations)
  • q: what is the authentication for an srm-storage element; wip
  • using the srm-tester for srm version 1. a java wrapper around srm client tools.; wip
  • basic functional suite is not defined yet - cant until we have access to a srm; wip (fnal ready to go)
  • does validation with registration databases; later, can do an application-like validation
  • tests with a bound CE (use Burt's.. SITE_READ, SITE_WRITE...tbd) Can UCSD be involved?
• Need to pare down the Monalisa ITB site list to only those active sites - done
• Define what it takes to instantiate WS gram gatekeeper after installation. ; permissions problems ; Java errors ; - Burt will send out... (Alan, Brian, Burt)
• Need a WS VDT client ; no clean solution in current VDT.

  • All sites installing 1.4.12 except TTU-TESTWULF allowed auto-updated (its now at 1.4.14)
  • Current version of ML has bug for sites running Condor Quill for VO jobs.
