Miscellaneous user-related notes regarding things OSG.

  • Running on the GRID from multiple VOs
    • This only works on those sites that run GUMS, and only if one gets mapped to a different user account for each VO.
  • Things to find out somehow:
    • How does one find out about a site's storage policy (SRM, etc) and/or get access?
    • How does one find out what software a site supports and paths to same (eg BLAS, compilers, etc)?
    • How does one find out whether a site has MPI capabilities, and how to use them if they exist?
  • Where's the documentation for following and updating GOC tickets via the web? Should be easy! Other (non-ticket-initiating) users may want to add cc: or "watch" capability -- this should be easy also.
  • GLUE schema attributes to show whether worker nodes have internet access:
    • GlueHostNetworkAdapterInboundIP
    • GlueHostNetworkAdapterOutboundIP

Things to do on VO test suite (no particular order or time estimate).

  • ForkCommand to use Test::sytem_command().
  • Other tests to use Test::system_command() as appropriate.
  • CEGridFTP (and others as appropriate) to save output of commands as detail.
  • Implement limit on number of parallel tests (should be easy on $waitfor).
  • Implement LDAP discovery.
  • Implement RES discovery.
  • Implement batch job handling (Condor only, or other batch systems too?).
  • Correct spacing in text summary.
  • Implement links to details in HTML summary.
  • Implement links to text and CSV summaries in HTML summary.
  • Implement test result "importance indicators", eg "SUCCESS", "FAILURE", "INFO" with their own style hints for HTML.
  • Split table into multiple sections for readability.
  • Internal documentation.
  • External documentation (usage and API).

Things to do with Gratia when I get back from vacation (no particular order):

  • condor_history checking more intelligent in pre- and post-6.9.1 condor probe
  • Find backup condor history files in the event the main file has already been rotated
  • More robustness improvements:
    • Catch exceptions from XML parser and attempt to upload anyway.
    • Verify possible missing trailing LF at end of backup files.
    • Revisit reprocessing triggers, especially for Condor probe.
  • Testing harness and test cases (with John).
  • VMs (with John / Steve).
  • Automatic summary table rebuilding, etc.
  • Overhaul collector release-cutting procedure.
  • Pre-6.9.1 condor probe to handle WS jobs?
  • Reporting roles.
  • Reports overhaul.
